**CIC STICKS TO THEIR PREDICTIONS
In our December 23rd and 30th electronic e-mail updates, CIC condemned
the entire “censure” discussion by various establishment stooges of Clinton
as sham diversion spearheaded by the White House. We are firm in our
analysis of these developments. We urge you to ignore the confusing stories
promoting censure or other “deals” to short-circuit a trial. CIC is counting
votes, and we predict a long Senate trial.
**LOTT TO LEAK NEW PLANS??
In the (bi-partisan) spirit of all the plans and leaked agreements
coming out of Washington, CIC is hereby leaking a report of a possible meeting to
be arranged between Chief Justice Rehnquist, and Senators Trent Lott, Orrin
Hatch, Arlen Specter and several others. According to our sources, Rehnquist
is furious over the timidity of several GOP Senators and has told
colleagues, in so many words: “The constitution says I will preside over a trial, not
some phantom proceeding that suspends the integrity of the constitution.”
Apparently, top GOP Senators are strategizing over the procedures of the
trial and have abdicated to the senseless talk of censure and deal making.
This, of course, makes Clinton folks delighted because they know (as well as the
GOP) that the 2/3rds needed for conviction is just not there… (yet).
However, there are several scenarios which could take place during the
trial --- and these Senators do not want the public to know about what may
already be planned. 1) A filibuster, by a Republican or Democrat, lasting days on
end could disrupt the trial. It would then take 60 Senators to overrule
this action. 2) Endless and countless “motions”, seconded by other
Senators, could result in further delays and roll calls. But Rehnquist could rule them
all out of order. 3) Lott needs to maintain the support of at least 28 of the
55 Republican members if he wishes to remain their choice as Senate Majority
Leader. Any compromise with Democrats could lead him the way of Newt.
As the Senators arrive back in Washington today, the head count for a
traditional impeachment trial --- the first in 130 years --- is a clear
majority. Look for this to be confirmed. The trial is expected to
officially begin January 11 after all Senators are sworn in on Thursday. No “State
of the Union” address this year!
**HELP US FIND THE MAGIC 12!
(Washington, DC) Conviction and removal of Clinton will take place if
at least 12 Democrats follow the constitution (assuming a unified GOP). It is
imperative that all supporters keep up the heat on the Senate. CIC is
asking all supporters to urge friends and family to sign our new petition
(http://www.impeachclinton.org//resources.php?article=petition. CIC also asks that you
keep contacting the following 12 targeted Senators via phone calls, snail
mail, and e-mail---especially those that are up for re-election in the year 2000.
(snail mail to any Senator can be sent to: Senator -----, U.S. Senate,
Washington, DC 20510).
(NOTE: Phone calls & regular letters are often more effective than
e-mails, and CIC stresses that these steps should be taken before e-mailing. The
e-mail addresses listed below are accurate --- but you may encounter
difficulties as some Senate offices get overloaded or they shut off their systems).

**INCOMING FRESHMAN CLASS ENTER ARENA
CIC urges all supporters to contact the 8 newly elected Senators. They
need to hear from real Americans about impeachment before they become entrenched
with the “insiders.” (NOTE: E-mail addresses for these Senators are not
currently available, but will be posted to you in a future CIC update).
