CIC EXCLUSIVE: FEC IGNORING PUBLIC ON INTERNET?
As CIC first reported, the Federal Election Commission (FEC) recently
acknowledged that the commission had not read any of the over 1,200
comments it received regarding its Notice of Inquiry [1999-24] to
regulate political speech on the internet. CIC has reviewed a broad
sampling of these comments and has found that an overwhelmingly
majority of 95% OPPOSE the FEC's inquiry, and only 5% approve of it.
Moreover, comments from most non-profit organizations and individuals
have made it very clear that their websites, e-mail communications,
hyperlinks and chat rooms -- which may support or oppose a particular
candidate -- should NOT be lumped into the same FECA regulatory
category as political action committees, political parties, unions and the
candidates themselves. CIC stands with them and we will make these
messages a part of the official record for the May 3rd Senate hearings.
REACTIONS TO ELIAN SEIZURE
The violent raid on Elian’s Miami home has stirred emotions and divided
many Americans. CIC has received many letters across the country both
for and against the seizure of Elian. CIC appreciates all comments
(send correspondence to info@impeachclinton.org) Samplings of these
letters will be posted shortly on our website….Please be patient and
visit the home page at http://www.impeachclintonagain.org ….
WSJ GIVES CIC 1,000% JUMP IN WEBSITE TRAFFIC
The Wall Street Journal’s front page article last week featuring CIC
has caused a dramatic increase in traffic to its “Impeach Clinton Again”
website (http://www.impeachclintonagain.org ). Visits jumped from an
average of 3,000 daily hits to a phenomenal 38,272 hits on April 19th
alone! “The response to the WSJ story clearly shows that many
Americans support our efforts and still believe the Clinton White House should be
held accountable for its crimes,” says CIC’s Jack Clayton. To read
excerpts of this article, please go to

TELL SENATE: “PROTECT FREE SPEECH ON INTERNET”
The Senate Rules and Administration Committee will be holding hearings
on Wednesday, May 3rd to discuss the implications of the Federal
Election Commission’s (FEC) attempts to regulate and restrict political
speech on the internet. For months CIC has been at the forefront of
this free speech battle and members plan once again to take this fight
to the halls of Congress. CIC’s Jack Clayton urges all supporters to
contact the committee office (Phone: 202-224-6352 Fax: 202-224-3036
E-Mail: webmaster@rules.senate.gov), as well as to e-mail the following
committee members, and demand support for S. 1747 – “The Internet
Freedom Protection Act” (text of bill is posted at
http://www.impeachclinton.org/news/2000/s1747.html ):

*Republicans – senator@mcconnell.senate.gov

survival of our website and thousands of others may just depend upon
this legislation,” says Clayton.
FEDERAL COURTS REBUKE RENO!
The rule of law has delivered a stinging blow to Janet Reno and her
illegal seizure of Elian Gonzalez. Federal Judge James Robertson in
Washington has ordered the Justice Department to immediately make
public all documents related to the Elian raid. Judge J.L. Edmondson of the
11th Circuit Court of Appeals has ordered that Janet Reno cannot move
Elian to any Cuban property in the U.S. and must remain on American
soil. He also demanded that Reno explain why a court-appointed
guardian should not be able to visit and report on Elian’s current condition.
And attorneys for the Miami relatives have asked Edmondson to cite Reno
in contempt of court for her blatant violation of the appeals court
ruling two days prior the raid.
RENO/CLINTON VIOLATED 4TH AMENDMENT
While Elian awaits a May 11 court hearing in seclusion at the Wye River
plantation in Maryland, government psychiatrists and Cuban officials
are helping in his “rehabilitation” (e.g. indoctrination to prepare for his
return to Cuba). Several congressional leaders have denounced last
weekend’s seizure of Elian and have pledged hearings for next week.
This armed assault was a clear violation of the 4th amendment, and
Congress and the courts need to examine this,” says CIC’s Linda
Whitman. “The agents did not produce a warrant before the raid, nor
did they have any reasonable cause to brandish loaded weapons and threaten
the lives of Elian and his relatives.” Most legal experts, including
ultraliberals Alan Dershowitz and Laurence Tribe, roundly concur that
Reno & Clinton broke the law. CIC's Whitman urges supporters to e-mail
Sen. Orrin Hatch at senator_hatch@hatch.senate.gov and Rep. Henry Hyde
at il06@legislators.com and demand they conduct full hearings. CIC
also reaffirms that additional action be taken
(please refer to previous update 4/22/00).
FIRST ELIAN/FATHER PHOTOS WERE FAKED!
Photo comparisons have clearly established that the original
Elian/father pictures released to the public were fabrications. Before
his seizure, Elian has short hair and is missing baby teeth. Hours
later with his father, he is seen sporting a longer hairdo and having
all his teeth. “This type of deceit by Clinton officials demonstrates
to all Americans that we can never trust this government,” states Ms.
Whitman. While Janet Reno and Greg Craig adamantly insist the photos
are genuine, the U.S. Marshals office has stated that no photos were
taken by any of their agents or other government officials.
WILL CONGRESS KOWTOW ON CHINA AGAIN?
For too long, many members of Congress, particularly Republicans, have
been carrying water for the Clinton administration in regards to
communist China (whose unfair trade policies, horrendous human rights
abuses and belligerent arms-buildups are well-documented). During the
week of May 22 Congress will be voting on Normal Trade Relations (NTR)
status for Red China. Before this crucial vote, CIC is urging the
passage of H. Con. Res. 308, sponsored by Rep. Tom Campbell (R-CA),
which bans the U.S. government from purchasing any Chinese goods made
from forced slave labor. Over 8 million Chinese work in 1,100 slave
factories producing goods for export to America. “Passage of this bill
would send a powerful message to the Clinton White House and to Beijing
that the American people do not kowtow to tyrants,” says CIC’s Steve
Miroy. Supporters should call Rep. David Dreier, pro-China Republican
and chairman of the Rules Committee, at 202-225-2305 and fax him at
202-225-7018 and demand he allow this bill for a floor vote. Backers
should also e-mail support and encouragement to Rep. Campbell at
Campbell@mail.house.gov and to contact your own Representative at
http://www.impeachclinton.org/impeach/contact.shtml and ask for their
support of H.Con.Res. 308.
CULTURE WAR HITS SUPREME COURT, WASHINGTON
The issue of whether homosexuals should serve as Boy Scout leaders hit
the docket of the Supreme Court this week. Arguments have been heard
from both sides and the justices are set to rule in June. “If the
Scouts lose this case, then the rights of free speech and association
of
every conservative organization in America may be targeted for
extinction by the Clinton Justice Department,” says CIC’s Mike Neal.
Anti-Clinton groups like CIC could be charged with violation of ‘civil
rights laws’.” Due to the potential implications on free speech, CIC
will be watching this case closely. This weekend powerful pro-Clinton
groups of the homosexual lobby will make sure their sordid lifestyles
and radical policies are in full public view as tens of thousands of
gays and lesbians descend upon our nation’s capital.
DID WHITE HOUSE TORCH SUBPOENAED RECORDS?
Independent Counsel Robert Ray has issued a grand jury subpoena to the
National Archives to determine whether the White House obstructed
justice by hiding incriminating e-mails and other documents. But he
may be too late. According to the WorldNetDaily.com, the records in
question are stored at the National Records Center in Suitland,
Maryland where this facility experienced two fires (Feb. 29 and April 5) which
destroyed nearly 40,000 documents from various agencies – including the
White House and Justice Department. Local investigators have concluded
that the April 5 fire was caused by arson.
HILLARY TAKES DONATION FROM DRUG DEALER
Hillary Clinton’s Senate campaign received over $22,000 in “soft money”
from a Vivian Mannerud Verble, a well-known intermediary for Jorge
Cabrera, who is now serving time in federal prison for smuggling
cocaine. Carbrera, it should be recalled, gave money to both Clinton
and Gore in 1995 and 1996, and even visited the White House. Despite
being behind bars, it appears he still using his connections for
illegal fundraising. After this donation was publicized in the New York Post,
Hillary swiftly returned the money to Ms. Verble.
HILLARY RE-PACKAGES HERSELF
Hillary is campaigning with a new kinder, gentler image. In an effort
to deflect questions about her ambition and carpetbagger status, she
recently pledged that if elected Senator she would serve the people of
New York a full six years and not seek the presidency in 2004. After
days of silence over the Elian seizure, Hillary has staked out a
flip-flop position like Al Gore. She says she supports the
regrettable” raid, but wants Juan Miguel and Elian to stay in the U.S.
and become citizens. Hillary is also stealing positions from the
Republican playbook: she’s now against partial-birth abortion and also
supports a cut in the estate tax.
ENGINE FAILURE NO CAUSE OF HELICOPTER CRASH
Marine Corps. investigators have still not determined the cause of the
MV-22 Osprey helicopter crash which killed 19 soldiers earlier this
month in Arizona. However, there is no indication that the cause was
from engine failure. “This still leaves open the possibility of
sabotage,” says CIC’s Steve Miroy. “Let us pray, for the sake of the
victims’ families, that all possible causes of this mishap are
investigated.”
TASK FORCE PROBES CLINTON, GORE ON CHINAGATE
The White House has belatedly disclosed that both President Clinton and
Vice President Al Gore submitted last week to questioning by the
Justice Department’s task force which is supposedly investigating any crimes
committed by them during the 1996 campaign finance scandal. Of course,
the task force poses no real threat to Clinton & Gore since it is
controlled by Janet Reno. But these secret interviews did pique the
interest of Rep. Dan Burton (R-IN), whose Government Reform Committee
has subpoenaed Reno for all documents detailing the secret interviews.
WACO TESTS REVEAL GOV’T COVER-UP
A Texas federal judge overseeing the civil lawsuit by Waco victims’
families has disclosed that the government’s “independent”
investigators in the Waco tragedy have concluded that federal agents did not fire
shots into the Branch Davidian compound. “This outrageous conclusion
clearly reveals a government cover-up!” exclaims CIC’s Jack Clayton.
Autopsies of 17 Branch Davidian bodies (found near the infrared film
location of heat flashes on the compound) have confirmed that these
victims did indeed die of gunfire.
CLINTON TO APPEAL PRIVACY ACT VIOLATION
Last month a federal court ruled that President Clinton criminally
violated the Privacy Act by releasing private letters from Kathleen
Willey in order to defame and slander her. Clinton’s attorneys are
appealing this decision and will make their arguments before the U.S.
Court of Appeals in DC on May 18th. In a related development, Clinton
has asked the Supreme Court of Arkansas to delay consideration of his
disbarment until he has left office.
NEW IMPEACH BOOK TO SLAM WHITE HOUSE?
Apparently, word has it in Washington that Bill & Hillary Clinton are
outraged over the soon-to-be-released book, “Truth At Any Cost,” by
Washington Post reporter Sue Schmidt and Time magazine’s Michael
Weisskopf. The book covers the Lewinsky investigation from an insider’s
view at the Office of Independent Counsel. Considering the authors’
liberal, establishment credentials, it is unlikely they will dish any
real dirt on the Clintons that is not already well-known by most
conservatives.
AL GORE & THE UNABOMBER: EERIE SIMILARITIES
Poor Vice President Al Gore. He wanted the 30th Earth Day to be his day
on national television, but he was trumped by the Clinton/Reno seizure
of Elian Gonzalez. So in tribute to the Vice President, CIC wants to
remind all Americans of his most significant contribution to the
environment: the “Unabomber” Ted Kaczyinski, whose writings (and, no
doubt, his bombings) were inspired by Gore’s 1992 “Earth in Balance”
book. When Kaczyinski was arrested by the FBI, a copy of Gore’s book
was found in his Montana cabin with numerous passages underlined and
highlighted.
